Around 60 firefighters will burn off 1900 hectares of national park and private property to snuff out the fire that became an emergency on Tuesday at Friendly Beaches on the East Coast.
Today’s burn will encompass the remaining hot spots and future proof the area for up to 7 years.

“The fire that will be ignited from the Tasman Highway, there’s no requirement at this stage to close the highway throughout Saturday, but the community should be aware there may be smoke in the area and drive to conditions as they see it.”
