This year’s Australian Construction Achievement Award has been won by Tasmania’s Bridgewater Bridge.
In winning the prestigious award the 1.28 kilometre bridge was praised for its technical complexity, sustainable practices and local economic benefits.
It was also commended for an innovative piling approach, protection of ecologically sensitive wetlands and deep community consultation to manage cultural heritage considerations.

The Chair of the judging panel confirming the decision was unanimous but was a very closely fought contest.
