Tasmania has led the national for retail turnover growth in August.
A rise in fact of 2.2% for the month for the state, well ahead of the national increase of 0.6%.
Tasmania’s monthly turnover exceeded $700 million for the first time and is also more than 7% higher than the same time last year.

Winners for the month across the the nation included department stores up 2.8% and household goods climbing 2.6%, while cafes, restaurants, takeaway and general food retailing were all stronger.
