Police are investigating the circumstances of a crash on the South Arm Highway this morning in which a pedestrian sustained serious injuries.
Around 6.05am emergency services responded to a report of a male pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the South Arm Highway, at the intersection of Oceana Drive.
The man, aged in his 40s, was struck by a white Mitsubishi ASX. He’s been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is listed in a serious but stable condition.
Emergency services attended the scene, and an examination was conducted by Crash Investigation Services and Forensic Services.
At this early stage in the investigation, police have established that the Mitsubishi was travelling south from the Shoreline roundabout towards Rokeby when it collided with the man who was crossing the highway.
The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured. They remained at the scene and are assisting police with the investigation.
