The inflatable jumping castle at the centre of the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy – may not have been properly secured.
Six children died and three others were injured during the end-of-year celebration-turned-disaster in December 2021 when a gust of wind blew the castle into the air.
The Director of Public Prosecutions alleges that Tas-Zorb owner Rosemary Gamble only pegged down four of the inflatable’s eight anchor points, and did not follow the manufacturer’s instructions to hammer the pegs at a 45 degree angle.
Gamble will appear at the Devonport Magistrates Court on February 2nd.
She’s been charged with a category two offence under the Health and Safety Act of failing to comply with her duty in such a way which exposed children to a risk of death or serious injury.
