The weather may have improved in recent hours but the flood emergency is far from over for the Mersey and Meander Rivers.
Evacuation orders are still in place for a number of towns, including Kimberly, Elizabeth Town, Merseylea, Railton, Latrobe, Sassafras and Tarleton on the Mersey River and Meander, Red Hills, Deloraine and Reedy Marsh on the Meander River.
Evacuation centres have been set up at the Latrobe Memorial Hall and the Deloraine Community Centre.
Latrobe Mayor Peter Freshney says the town is well prepared the the community is working together to assist those affected by the flood.
Flood warnings have been downgraded for Heybridge near the mouth of the Blythe River, Redwater Creek at Railton, Penguin Creek at Penguin, and the Cam River at Camdale and Somerset with water levels falling in all four.
Meanwhile, more than 1100 Coastal residences and businesses are without power due to storm damage.
Aurora Energy advises the worst affected areas are Aberdeen, Acacia Hills, Barrington, Nowhere Else, Sheffield and West Kentish, where more than 700 customers are without power.
205 customers in the Erriba, Wilmot, and Lower Wilmot areas have also been affected.
