The construction of the two Spirit of Tasmania ships will be documented for posterity.
TT-Line has engaged Hobart-based HYPE TV to capture every milestone in the construction of Spirits 4 and 5, currently being built in Finland.
The ships are due to arrive next year, with a new terminal in Devonport for the new Spirits a key element in TasPort’s $240 million Quaylink port redevelopment.
TT-Line CEO and managing director Bernard Dwyer says given the importance of the new ships to Tasmania, it’s critical to capture their progress from construction right through to maiden voyage between Devonport and Geelong.
Mr Dwyer says once the first ship is delivered in the first quarter of next year, the documentary will be released.
In the meantime, the Spirit of Tasmania website has launched an eight-part series called The Journey to Bass Strait, with episode one already on-line for viewing.
