$15 million of the $375 million needed to be raised for a Hobart waterfront stadium will be contributed by the AFL.
Boss of the league Gill McLachlan making the pledge, having previously committed to a Tasmanian team in the competition, contingent on the covered stadium being built.
The remaining $360 million dollars yet to be raised is to be sought from the Commonwealth and private investors.

Meantime Tasmanian independent Jacqui Lambie’s petition against the stadium is being swamped with signatures.
Senator Lambie’s against spending $750 million dollars on the arena when the money could be used to alleviate woes in health and housing.
