Tasmanians are being reminded to always wear protective equipment and follow the road rules after a serious crash in the state's South.

Officers were called to Claremont on the 5th of May, following a collision involving a motorised push bike and a red Mitsubishi ASX Station Wagon.

The motorised bike rider was a 17-year-old, who sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Police say the incident is a timely reminder.

"For anyone using a motorised push bike, always wear protective equipment and ride the bike in the correct manner," Acting Sergeant Alison Woolley said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash on Hilton Road or has any relevant dash cam footage is asked to call Glenorchy Police Station on 131 444.

Information can also be passed onto Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online here.
