Firies kept busy in Northern Tas

It's been a busy weekend for the state's firefighters - with a spate of fires since Friday.

On the West Coast, a tire fire continues to burn at Queenstown.

On Friday afternoon, a fire at Lanena caused significant damage to a home - firefighting efforts hampered by a long lane to access the property, making water a challenge.

Late on Friday night, a caravan on a property at Mayfield was set on fire - the fire spreading to the home. Damage is estimated at $40,000 and a 21 year old Newnham woman was arrested.

On Sunday morning, a home at Ravenswood burst into flames - damage at that address estimated at $200,000. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, and that cause is yet to be determined.

On Sunday evening, firefighters were called to a small 2x2m shed on Talbot Road, South Launceston - a spokesperson said the abandoned shed on council land was no longer standing, with an electrical inspector headng to the site later in the day Monday.
