Police have charged a woman after she was allegedly caught driving while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol following a crash in Launceston last night.

Around 7.20pm police were called to a crash at the intersection of Frankland and St John Streets where a Gold BMW X5 had collided with the side of a blue Mazda hatch.

The 47-year-old Launceston woman driving the BMW was arrested at the scene for allegedly driving while disqualified.

Police say she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.354.

No injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.
