Two shootings are being investigated in the state's north.

At about 4.45pm yesterday, a 22-year-old man entered the Launceston General Hospital with a bullet wound to the groin.

He's stable now after surgery.

About 7pm, ambulance officers attended a house in Rocherlea, where a 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

A modified double barrel shotgun was seized by police.

Initial investigations indicate that the two incidents are unrelated, however detectives are exploring all possibilities.

Anyone with information about either incident should contact Launceston CIB on 131 444, or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au
