Foreign buyers swoop again
One of Tasmania's biggest fish farmers is now entirely foreign owned.
Peter and Una Rockliff have sold their 50 per cent stake in the company they named after themselves, Petuna Acquaculture, to the Sealord Group.
The New Zealand-based operation already owned the other half of the business.
The pioneering Rockliffs, who'll retain full ownership of their wild fisheries operations, began diversifying into farmed fish in 1990.
Petuna CEO Ruben Alvarez says it's business as usual for the company and its 200 staff, as it gears up for further expansion in Tasmania's south and northwest.
“We have made significant gains over the past few years and the prospects for future growth and development are very encouraging,” he said.
