Charges laid over house fire
A woman is facing charges following a house fire in West Moonah last night.
Just before midnight, the Tasmania Fire Service and police were called to a house fire on Sixth Avenue.
The fire was contained to the front of the property and was quickly extinguished. Damage was limited to the front door and was relatively minor.
A short time later, fire investigators determined the blaze was deliberately lit.
Police have arrested and charged a 48-year-old woman from New Town with arson. She is due to front the Hobart Magistrates Court later today.
Both the occupant of the house and the alleged offender were known to each other.
The occupant was not injured.
