Pair jailed over Davies killing

SupcourtHobB

Jail terms have been handed to the duo who murdered a Risdon Vale tattoo artist in 2017.

In Hobart's Supreme Court, Dwayne 'Doc" Davies wife, 47-year-old Margaret Anne Otto, who co-hatched the murder plot, received 15 years, with no parole possible for half of that term.

Otto's former lover and the victim's friend Bradley Scott Purkiss, who shot him from behind at his Elderslie property and buried the body at a remote location at Levendale, was sentenced to 24 years and will serve 14 before the possibility of parole.

The Crown's case was the pair felt ongoing resentment towards the victim. The court heard the killing was planned for almost eight hours before Davies was shot dead. Justice Alan Blow said Otto could have saved her husband's life.

Outside court, Mr Davies' family said they were satisfied with the sentences, but thought Otto could have received longer.

They were found guilty by a jury on Monday after a five week trial.
