A man is in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital after sustaining burns in an explosion on the shores of Great Lake last night.
The inferno also destroyed a house and a car at Brandum overnight.
Local brigades found the two-bedroom house completely engulfed, the fire extending to a car with a trailer attached. Crews were able to save the trailer and the fire was controlled in just over an hour.
A family of four, including two children were staying at the house at the time. The mother and children were not physically injured, and were cared for by local residents.
The 39 year old man was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital with burns to his face, hands and airway.
TFS Fire Investigators are currently en route to Brandum to investigate the cause of the fire.
