Five Things we don't know about Jess: I have heaps of siblings! I have dual citizenship (Australian / UK) and a significant chunk of my family are on the other side of the world. I yawn every single time I sneeze. The yawn follows the sneeze, every time. I failed my driving test twice. My little family built a beach house in Seymour, just north of Bicheno a couple of years ago.
Career History: I worked in a record store for 8 years, Wills Music in Launceston. We sadly closed our doors in 2010 but by this stage I’d commenced by studies at UTAS and chipped away at my Bachelor of Arts degree over the next few years whilst working at The Examiner. After uni I accepted a Promotions & Marketing role with Cityprom, the promotional body for Launceston’s central city – and this led to my gig as Promotions Manager for LAFM & Chilli FM where someone handed me a microphone and I decided I never wanted to give it back!
Career highlight to date? I'll never forget my first moment on live radio, crossing back to the studio from a supermarket carpark giving away freebies. I was shaking like a leaf but knew from that moment I had found my place in the world! But I'll also never forget returning to work after taking a few months off when I had my baby girl.
Favourite Tasmanian event of the year? I do love my food and wine so Festivale in Launceston is always a fave that I've been lucky enough to MC for the past few years but the Bicheno Food & Wine Festival is also fantastic.
Favourite band/music act of all time? Motley Crue. Hands down. Have seen them twice live and was pretty shattered to miss their farewell tour but something makes me think they will do another sneaky one!
Which fashion accessory could you not live without? My enormous handbag! There are at least 8 lip glosses in there at any given time plus several unpaid parking tickets, my equally enormous purse with a stupid amount of loyalty cards in it and the other day I found a guitar pick?!
Who is the most interesting person you've interviewed and why? Shaun Micallef. I’ve always admired his intelligence and wit and it was the one interview that actually made me quite nervous!
If we gave you $1000, what would you spend it on? My head says bills but I do absolutely adore spending money on clothes for my little girl so I think my self control would certainly be tested! Maybe some Tassie wine too!
If you weren't a radio presenter, what would you be doing? I’d definitely still be in media. Probably writing, maybe TV, or I’d still be plugging away trying to get enough people to hear my voice and give me a job!
